Who are we?

The Syrian German Medical Association (SGMA e.V.) is a non-profit, independent medical organization founded by Syrian physicians und Health workers working in Germany. It was established out of a deep belief in medicine as a humanitarian and scientific bridge between nations, and in the responsibility of Syrian medical professionals to contribute to the reconstruction and development of the healthcare system in Syria, while also strengthening the professional presence of Syrian doctors within the German medical community.

SGMA works to support the healthcare sector in Syria through the organization of specialized medical missions, the performance of advanced surgical procedures, and the provision of medical consultations and therapeutic services. A central pillar of its work is medical training and capacity building, with a strong focus on transferring modern medical knowledge and expertise to local healthcare professionals in Syria, in close cooperation with local health institutions.

In Germany, SGMA aims to represent Syrian physicians and Healthworkers, support their professional integration, and enhance their academic and scientific engagement, while fostering dialogue and collaboration with German medical, academic, and research institutions.

The association believes that medical work extends beyond treatment alone to include education, human development, and the promotion of professional ethics, independence, volunteerism, and social responsibility.

From this perspective, SGMA serves as a platform that brings together medical expertise, humanitarian commitment, and a forward-looking vision in service of people wherever they are.
